1.

A life jacket for pups who aren’t the strongest swimmers but still want to participate in ocean adventures.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: “I was nervous about this life jacket fitting my dachshund puppy because she is so small, but it worked great! She has a little room to grow into it, but I felt confident that she was safe and secure when we took her on a kayak trip down the river. She wore this life jacket for eight hours and had a decent range of motion. She was able to move around, walk, and climb over things while still being secure. The belly band has both Velcro and clips to further secure her and the chin float helps her keep her head above water. I would gladly purchase this life jacket again as it is a great product for a great price.” —M.H.

Get it from Amazon for $16.99+ (originally $24.99, available in five sizes).

2.

A training course if your dog needs way more mental stimulation than a simple game of fetch can offer.

amazon.com

This set includes a high jump, a collapsible tunnel, and six weave poles.

Promising review: “For the price, this training course set can’t be beat. Yes, it is plastic and lightweight, but it’s a great set to start teaching your puppy to jump and weave on command. The tunnel is short and wide enough that they feel safe enough to go through it. We followed this with some agility classes for fun (not competition) and Juliette knew just what to do. People were amazed that it was her first class. I had taught her the commands to tunnel, jump, and weave, and she understood. This will absolutely help your dog get some exercise and have some fun.” —K.C.

Get it from Amazon for $39.99 (originally $49.99).

3.

Or a 4-pack of adjustable bar jumps if your pup is ready for bigger challenges. Not to worry — the top bar falls off when it’s hit, so your best bud won’t get hurt if they don’t clear the jump.

amazon.com

This set includes four bar jumps and a carrying case.

Promising review: “I am very pleased with the quality of these jumps. They are easy to assemble, sturdy, and lightweight. They come with a bag for easy storage and travel. I highly recommend this product. Have fun!” —Suzanne B.

Get it from Amazon for $59.99.

4.

A splash pad, so your dog can have fun in the sun without overheating. If you’ve ever seen your pup play with a hose or sprinkler, you know how much fun they will have with this.

amazon.com

Promising review: “We’re already hitting triple digits in Arizona and I wish I’d found this wonderful splash pad years ago. Both of our dogs lost their minds with happiness when I set it up. They had a fantastic time playing with the fountain effect and just tromping around inside the pool. It is a great way for them to cool off and get some exercise when it’s just too hot for their normal trail runs. The pad is reasonably priced and is very easy to set up—you basically just lay it out and hook it up to the hose. It held up very well during their rough play and it seems very durable. I’m looking forward to an entire summer of cool playtime in the desert heat. I highly recommend this pad if your dogs love water. This would be fun for small children as well!” —Kayce

Get it from Amazon for $38.99+ (available in two sizes).

5.

A bungee rope toy if you need a tug-of-war alternative. Once you attach it to a tree, they can yank to their heart’s delight without worrying about pulling your arm out of its socket.

Amazon

Promising review: “This is perfect for a high-energy dog who wants to play tug-of-war. With a new baby and both of us working full-time, we don’t always get to play as often or as long as our Siberian Husky would like. This bungee rope toy allows him to play without needing us there. It also allows him to pull hard and rough. We had to spend a few hours teaching him how to play with it at first, but now he spends hours outside playing with it.” —SierraR

Get it from Amazon for $29.99+ (available in two sizes).

6.

A floating fish toy if your dog loves playing fetch in the pool. It skips and bobs on the water like a real fish which will get your buddy even more excited to chase after it!

Amazon

Promising review: “My golden retriever puppy swims in the pool almost every day. She has maybe 15 other pool toys, but this one is her favorite. It’s lightweight, skips in the water, and is made out of rubber that is practically indestructible. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent on her. Get it and you won’t be sorry.” —Ziggy3339

Get it from Amazon for $17.99.

7.

A two-pack of skipping stones, so you have a fun challenge to keep you entertained (skipping stones isn’t easy!) and they have a highly visible toy to swim after.

amazon.com

Promising review: “This is seriously such an awesome dog toy. I work at an independent pet retailer and decided to buy one for my pup’s birthday. Both of my dogs absolutely love swimming at our local dog park, so I figured this would be perfect for playing fetch in the water. Let me tell you, these stones did not disappoint! They float, they actually skip and, best of all, you don’t have to touch a dirty, soggy ball! The rubber is super durable, too. I have two large dogs who haven’t been able to chew them up yet!” —Bonnie Bell

Get it from Amazon for $9.95 (originally $12.99).

8.

A flying disc toy for pups who love sprinting far distances. This lightweight disc flies high, floats on water, and is easy on the teeth.

Amazon

Promising review: “In six months my dog and I have gone through 10 discs from a few different brands and I think I finally found the one. I have a 70-pound pit bull who loves catching a Frisbee more than anything. The hard discs crack in one retrieval and the silicone ones end up cracking in the middle within a few weeks. This one is made of fabric, so it won’t break nearly as easily. It is still intact after five months of playing every day! The fabric really catches the air and is so lightweight that the disc glides for quite a bit.” —T. K.

Get it from Amazon for $7.95 (available in two colors).

9.

A bubble machine, so you can sit back, relax, and watch the adorable comedy routine of your pup popping, chomping, and chasing bubbles. The nontoxic, bacon-scented bubble solution will get them even more riled up.

amazon.com

Promising review: “Our dog loves this thing. We say, ‘Do you want some bubbles?’ and she loses her mind. She’ll chase the bubbles until she’s worn out. The machine is also very durable. It has been left out in the rain multiple times and still works like it did on day one.” —S. Sherman

Get it from Amazon for $39.95.

10.

A Nerf Dog tennis ball blaster that requires little to no effort on your part. Just stick the ball into the launcher, shoot it as far as 50 feet (!), and wait for your pup to bring it back.

amazon.com

Promising review: “Molly whines and jumps around with excitement whenever we bring her Nerf Blaster out to play. She usually likes to hang on to the tennis balls instead of dropping them for us to throw again, but with this toy, she’s so excited for us to launch the ball that she is willing to drop it. It’s exercise if we don’t have time to go for a walk. We’ve been using it every day for a month and a half now, and the only issue we’ve had is that the Nerf ball fell apart within minutes of giving it to her. She does have a strong mouth and likes to chew them, but I would’ve expected it to last as long as a standard tennis ball. We’ve been using regular tennis balls since and they fit perfectly into the launcher. Overall though, I would highly recommend this toy for any tennis-ball-loving dogs.” —Paul Johnson

Get it from Amazon for $13.95+ (originally $19.99, available in six sizes).

11.

A flirt pole to quickly give your dog the mental and physical exercise they need when a busy day doesn’t allow for long walks. With a simple flick of the lure, your pup will be sprinting, jumping, and pouncing.

Amazon

Promising review: “My dog would rather play ‘keep away’ than fetch. We’re finding it difficult to train him to drop the ball, so hasn’t been getting enough exercise when we play. Enter the flirt pole! This toy is a great way to give him a good cardio session. He’s constantly running, jumping, and tugging. I never relinquish the pole so the activity doesn’t get interrupted unless I want it to. The toy is well constructed with a strong bungee cord. We haven’t been using it for too long, but it’s sturdy and seems like it will last. This quickly became my pup’s favorite toy and we all have a lot of fun with it.” —Littlebat

Get it from Amazon for $27.99+ (available in two sizes, six colors, and a squeaker option).

12.

A Chuckit Ultra Tug toy, so you can throw a bouncy ball and play tug-of-war after they fetch it without putting your fingers in their mouth.

Amazon

Promising review: “This toy is great because it is incredibly durable and I can fetch with my dog without getting slobber all over my hands each time he brings it back. He grabs the ball in his mouth and I grab the strap. It’s also great for tug of war! It’s good for throwing because you can catapult it using the strap.” —krzachary

Get it from Amazon for $4.52+ (available in three sizes).

13.

A giggle ball that far surpasses any squeaky toy’s ability to excite and entertain them. Your pup will want to chase this toy all day long and the holes make it easier for dogs of all sizes to pick it up and carry it around.

amazon.com

Promising review: “My Jack Russell Terrier suddenly went blind about two months ago and has been depressed, anxious, and inactive for the most part since then. Before, her favorite toy was her tennis ball, and she was the best at fetch. I didn’t think I’d find anything that would sustain her attention the same way until I found this. I bought a host of other toys recommended for blind dogs, but this one is, by far, her favorite. I don’t usually post reviews, but after showing her vet a video of her playing with the ball, she said, ‘This is a testament to how blind dogs can have a good quality of life!’ I couldn’t agree more!” —hurricane0613

Get it from Amazon for $11.99+ (also available as a glow-in-the-dark toy).

14.

A squeaky Nerf football if your pup always wants to be tagged in when you’re playing football with your friends.

amazon.com

Promising review: “We ordered the 5-inch football and our pitbull loves it! Although he has destroyed many other kinds of balls, this one has held up. The grooves and thick rubber make it easy for us to throw after multiple slimy fetches. It still has its squeak which can be quite loud in the house, but that’s one of the reasons he loves it. We are ordering extras as back-ups in case this one ever goes missing!” —cyndi young

Get it from Amazon for $10.99.

15.

Or a rubber football that you can stuff with their favorite treats or toys for extra mental stimulation.

Promising review: “Two years later, the Hol-ee Football is still a favorite of my boxer. It has held up under many rousing games of fetch and his moderate chewing proclivities. I agree with other reviews that this toy isn’t for heavy chewers, but I don’t think that’s what this toy was designed for. I’d say that if you are going to get a Hol-ee, opt for the football style, as they last longer (it has a better hole to rubber ratio) and are just as fun!” —Aggie

Get it from Amazon for $8.11+ (available in four sizes).

16.

A KONG Aqua for aggressive chewers who destroy toys like it’s their job. This toy is stuffed with foam that helps it float and is attached to a rope for easy throwing and fetching.

Amazon

Promising review: “These toys are awesome! We use them at the lake all the time and our dogs really love them. They float really well and are easy to retrieve in the water, but my dogs also love playing fetch with them at home. They really enjoy a good game of tug-of-war, and the rope has held up just fine. The rubber is super tough as well; our aggressive chewer has never been able to tear off even a small piece! We’ll never be without these.” —Natalie H.

Get it from Amazon for $13.99 (available in two sizes).

17.

A ChuckIt! Max Glow Ball, so you can play right up until it’s time for bed.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I have a 1-year-old husky who loves to chew on everything. This ball can handle her destructive nature. It’s dark out by the time I get home from work, but I still want to spend time playing with her and this ball works amazingly. I hold it in front of a light for a few minutes and it’s charged ready to be thrown. She loves the ball so much that when she’s done playing fetch, she’ll bring it to bed with her. There’s a hole in the middle that makes a whistling noise when thrown which catches her attention. It’s a great ball and I’m glad I bought it.” —Quyen

Get it from Amazon for $4.93+ (available in two colors and 10 sizes).

18.

And a Chuckit! Sport Launcher to throw the Glow Ball (or any ball for that matter) farther and play for longer. You can fling the ball up to 140 feet with it without breaking a sweat!

amazon.com

Promising review: “My dog and I regularly visit a huge dog park, and the Sport Launcher lets me throw a ball far enough that she can really run at full throttle. She loves to play ‘keep away,’ but this allows me to sling the ball far enough to keep her interested in fetch. Now, we can spend an hour at the park playing with it. I also love that the Launcher picks the ball up because I don’t have to touch a slimy ball with my hands. My dog gets so excited when she sees it that she will bounce back and forth in front of me until I throw the ball. I only regret not buying one of these sooner!” —C Fritsche

Get it from Amazon for $9.99.

19.

A squeaky toy with a unique shape that makes it easier to handle and makes it fly and bounce in wild ways.

Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review:I have had one of these toys for four or five years that we use for outdoor playtime and one that’s slightly newer to keep inside. Our dog loves them, so we got a third one to put in rotation. The squeaker is still going strong and has not popped out. As with all of the JW toys we have purchased, this one has terrific value and my dog simply loves it.” —Kyle

Get it from Amazon for $5.99 (originally $8.99).

20.

A Chuckit! soccer ball, so you can practice bending it like Beckham when you’re playing fetch with your lil’ buddy. This foam, rubber, and canvas ball bounces, floats, and is durable enough to withstand the wear-and-tear of outside activity.

amazon.com

Promising review: “Our pitbull loves playing soccer, but totally destroys the regular ball. This Chuckit! toy is tough and, because of the grooves, is way easier for her to carry in her mouth. The grooves also make it easier for us to grab when she’s playing keep away! Because thisball is a bit bouncier, you don’t have as much control over it as you would with a normal soccer ball, but we still have so much fun playing with it. It is easy to clean with soap and water and it dries off fairly quickly.” —Michelle Lynn

Get it from Amazon for $22.95 (originally $29.99).

21.

A Zogoflex that offers all of the fun of rawhides, sticks, and dog bones without any of the danger.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: “I’ve been looking for a really durable toy for a small terrier with an impressively strong bite. He destroys stuffed animals within a day under supervised play and can puncture squeakers in the same amount of time; it’s been very frustrating trying to find something that lasts. A lot of the durable toys are designed for big dogs, so all of them are too large for my dog who is under 15 pounds. I took a chance on this toy and am really glad I did. It gives a funny bounce for him to chase and has lasted 3+ days of play so far, and he gets very excited to play with it. It can pick up hair and dust pretty quickly if it rolls under the couch, but it’s easy enough to wash with soap and water. The shape of it doesn’t really give him a chance to gnaw at one small spot to break the whole thing. I would buy another one if this one somehow ever got destroyed, but I don’t see that happening for a while.” —D. Le

Get it from Amazon for $11.95 (available in three sizes and four colors).
